first day in Kigali

This is the view from my balcony at the guesthouse. I woke up to the sound of many birds and otherwise quiet. Genevieve and I spent the day walking around Kigali to get oriented. We walked to the hospital where we will be working tomorrow and downtown. We had lunch at the famous Hotel des Mille Collines. It was so strange to be there, knowing the tragic history.

I am finding it slow to upload photos but will try a few more.

Hi Patty,

It's great to see the pictures and I look forward to you posting more from Kigali. You can maybe reduce the size of the files before you upload them and they'll upload a lot faster -- I don't know if you have the software to do that.

Is there any impact in Kigali from the conflict in DRC nextdoor? I realize that Kigali is some distance from the border, but Goma isn't too far, and some groups involved in the DRC problems are originally from Rwanda.

I hope you're settling in well and that you have a great time.

Love Richard

Hi Richard,

I will try to reduce the files ( if I can figure out how). As I said in another comment, Rwanda does not feel at all affected by the DRC issues, although that could change. They seem to be pretty together here.
We will pay attention.
Love, Patty
